Mrs. Mary Crowder
3rd Grade Teacher
BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
I was born in Richwood, West Virginia, on February 23, to Ruth and Clair Boso. I was raised in Lewisburg, West Virginia. I was saved at around age twelve. I had many doubts and uncertainties after that and finally gained assurance of my salvation as a young adult. I received a B.S. degree in Education from Concord College in Athens, West Virginia and an M.R.E. degree from Liberty Baptist Seminary in Lynchburg, Virginia.
LIFE VERSE
I really don’t have one, but I have always liked Romans 8:28 - “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.” And Philippians 1:6 - “Being confident of this very things, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
EXPERIENCE
I have thirty years experience in teaching. I taught for three years with Greenbrier Co. Schools in West Virginia. I have taught for twenty-seven years at Temple Christian School.
FAMILY
I have one brother, George, a house inspector in Chicago, and one sister, Peggy, who is a schoolteacher in West Virginia. I am married to Henry Crowder of Bedford, VA. I met Henry when he was in charge of the construction crew that built our church and school here at Temple. We took one look at each other and the rest is romance history!
HOBBIES
I enjoy music, flea markets and antique shops.
INTERESTING FACTS
I have taught Music, Kindergarten, 2nd grade and 3rd grade. Which is my favorite? Whichever one I am doing at the time. In 1980, I went to Israel for two weeks. Now when I tell a Bible story you should see little eyes light up when I say, “Oh by the way, I’ve been to the spot where this story took place.”
WHAT I LIKE MOST ABOUT TEACHING
What I love most about teaching is the children and the children. Oh, did I mention the children? I love to meet needs, build confidence, and see progress in young lives. I love to see them get saved and have that settled forever.
