May 2010

Dear Parents,

I can’t believe I’m already sending you the May calendar!!! (It’s jam packed with activities!!)  This year has flown by, hasn’t it?!  While this may be the last school calendar for the year, it won’t be the last correspondence you will receive.  I’ll be sending letters to you throughout the summer keeping you apprised of everything that will be happening at TCS in the fall.

Don’t forget that Friday, May 7, is a half-day of school for K3-12th grade for Teacher Appreciation Day.  The Teacher Appreciation Committee has a fabulous boxed lunch for the teachers and staff on that day, and we’re looking forward to it!  Daycare will be available until 6:00 p.m.  I would like for seniors to be dismissed after 3rd period to go with me for their final senior pictures.  They will have all the details for that activity.

We will be hosting a “National Day of Prayer” event here at Temple Christian School on Thursday, May 6, at 7:30 a.m., in the church auditorium.  This is open to the public.  We will be meeting to pray for our nation, our President, and community, and our school.

I would like to invite all of you to come out and see “Divine Stella Devine” on Friday or Saturday night, May 14 or 15.  Our high school drama department will be presenting this hilarious production in the gym on both evenings at 7:00.  Tickets are $10.00 each (for limited front row seating) or $5.00 each for regular seating.  Tickets go on sale beginning Monday, May 3rd, in the school office.  Hope you can come!!!!

As you can tell by the calendar, we have many programs and concerts planned in May.  If you have questions about any of those things, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office.

For those who have not yet done it, I would like to encourage you to quickly turn in your re-enrollment forms.  At this point, many classes have already been filled.  I don’t want you to wait until July to enroll and discover that there is no space available!  Also, the re-enrollment fee increases after May 31 (K3-8th grade = $175.00, and 9-12 = $225.00).

Your child’s teacher should be in close communication with you about where your child stands academically as we finish out the school year.  Before you re-enroll, make sure your son/daughter will be promoted to the next grade here at TCS.  I know you don’t want any surprises.  We have done our best to keep you informed throughout the school year.  If you have any concerns, please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

As the teachers prepare the final report cards of the school year, some students may be required to have tutoring over the summer.  There is a differenced between “suggested” tutoring and “required” tutoring.  If tutoring is suggested, the decision to do that is totally up to you.  However, if tutoring is required, we must have evidence that this has been satisfactorily completed before the student may return in the fall, even if his/her application has already been processed.  Please see your child’s teacher or someone from the school office if you need names and phone numbers of potential tutors.

Thanks for all of your prayer and support this school year!  It’s been an exciting one!  Enjoy May, and then enjoy your summer!!!  Hope to see you back in the fall!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Sweat
