February
2008
Dear Parents,
I hope you’re enjoying this winter weather! If it’s going to be this cold, I’d sure like to see some snow, wouldn’t you?! Who knows what February holds for us! Keep that hotline number handy! In addition, we’re hoping to have the SchoolCast system up and running within the next week, so that will be another way we can more effectively communicate with you!
Thank you for returning our survey about the spring fund-raiser. The overwhelming choice was the discount card, so we will be selling those beginning February 25. The cards sell for $10 and the school makes $5 per card. More information will be coming as we near the kick-off date. Again, thanks for your response to the survey (and thank you for making other suggestions for fund-raisers as well!!)
We’re very excited about our first Senior Trip! Our seniors will be leaving for Athens, Greece on Friday, February 8 and will be returning Friday, February 15! Please pray for safety as they travel out of the country. (Pray for their parents, too!)
Our winter break will be Friday, February 15 through Monday February 18. Enjoy!
Cell Phones – Elementary students may not have cell phones at school. Middle/High school students may have cell phones, but may not use them during the school day. They may keep phones in their lockers or backpacks, but from 8:30-3:15 the phones are to be turned off and are not to be used (even for texting). Students needing to phone parents during the school day are to use the telephones in the school office. If cell phones are out of the lockers/book bags during the school day, they will be confiscated. Sorry to be a “fuddy-duddy” (I haven’t used that phrase in awhile!), but we’re here to learn, not to “phone a friend!” Thanks for your help with this!
Don’t’ forget to check Lost and Found, which is running over at this point! (If you’re not sure where “Lost and Found” is, please contact the school office and we’ll help you find it!) There are all kinds of pants, sweaters, jackets, etc., that you’ve paid a lot of money for, so please have your children come and claim them! If students’ names are on the items, we will take them to the students, but if not, they will remain in “Lost and Found” until winter break. After that they will be taken to Goodwill.
We have several events coming up in the months ahead (Grandparents’ Day, ODACS Bible, academic and fine arts competition, spring plays, exciting special chapels). It’s exciting to be a part of Temple Christian School!
Happy Valentine’s Day!
